Cookie Policy

This site sets three cookies to work and two to count visits. Nothing in the second group is set until you say yes, and there is no third group.

How consent works here

On your first visit you get a banner with two equally weighted buttons — Accept statistics and Only necessary — plus a link to this page. No option is pre-ticked, refusing takes exactly one click, and the banner does not reappear on the next page to wear you down. Until you choose, only the strictly necessary cookies below exist, and no statistics request is sent.

This follows the ePrivacy Directive as implemented in Art. 11.7a of the Dutch Telecommunications Act, with GDPR Art. 7 consent standards: freely given, specific, informed, and as easy to withdraw as to give.

Strictly necessary — always on

These make the shop function. They carry no advertising identifier and are exempt from the consent requirement.

Statistics — only after you accept

We run Matomo on our own server rather than a third-party analytics network. IP addresses are truncated to the first two octets before storage, there is no cross-site identifier, no advertising audience is built, and the data never leaves our host.

Marketing — none

No advertising, retargeting, conversion-pixel or social-tracking cookies are used anywhere on this site. There is no Meta pixel, no Google Ads tag, no TikTok tag. If that ever changes, this page changes first, the banner gains a third category, and we ask you again from scratch — an existing consent will not be recycled into a new purpose.

Embedded video

Slow-Cook School lessons sometimes embed a YouTube clip in privacy-enhanced (youtube-nocookie) mode, and the embed only loads after you click the placeholder. Once you press play, YouTube may set its own cookies under Google’s policy — that is their processing, not ours, and clicking is the only way it starts.

Local storage

Two keys, both first-party, both necessary: sv_cart mirrors your basket so a dropped connection does not empty it, and sv_kitscale remembers whether you last cooked a recipe for two or four. Clearing site data removes them.

Withdrawing or changing your consent

  1. Use the “Cookie settings” control in the footer of any page. It reopens the same banner with your current choice shown, and takes effect immediately.
  2. Or clear this site’s cookies in your browser. That deletes sv_consent, so you will be asked again on the next visit.
  3. Statistics cookies already set are deleted the moment you switch statistics off; we do not keep a shadow copy.

Browser-level controls

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies wholesale under Settings → Privacy. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break the basket and checkout — the shop is not usable without them, and we would rather say so than let you discover it at the payment step. We honour Global Privacy Control (GPC) as a refusal of statistics, so if your browser sends it you will not see the banner at all.

More detail

What we do with the data behind these cookies, how long we keep it and which rights you have is set out in the privacy policy. Anything unclear: [email protected].
